Gorsuch Hearings

Post by Signlight on Wed Apr 05, 2017 10:34 pm

In the threat of a Democratic filibuster or simply being unable to get the votes, Senate Republicans are considering the 'nuclear option' of lowering the required 60 votes to 51. This would mean that Democratic/Independent voters would be negated entirely in the voting process. Even John McCain is against the idea. Frankly, no matter how much I disapprove of the Senate having totally blocked Merrick Garland from the Supreme Court, Neil Gorsuch is by leaps and bounds a much more centrist judge than I expected from so dangerous a president. While I do agree with the Democrat's filibuster on the theoretical principle of blocking Gorsuch or hurting Republican reputation by forcing them to utilize the 'nuclear option', I doubt a more centrist judge could ever come along from the alt-right that's taken the floor.

Thoughts?
